Melrose is served by a 36-member body of Deacons. From Acts 6 and I Timothy 3:10 we find that the ministry of the first deacons were intended to aid the apostles by taking care of some of the physical needs of the congregation. For many churches, this has evolved to include some spiritual ministry as well. At Melrose, our deacon fellowship is divided into ministry teams that includes areas such as:

  • Courtesy Team (welcoming visitors/members at church entrances on Sunday)
  • Baptism Team
  • Communion Team
  • Hospital Vistitation Team
  • New Members Team
  • Security Team
  • Pastoral Support Team
  • Caregivers Support Team
  • Celebration Team
  • Transportation Team
  • Helping Hands Team (maintenance needs of members)
  • Pulpit Supply Team
  • Melrose Muggers Team (Visiting visitors)

Deacons serve for a term of 3 years, and are nominated by members of the church.
